The Challenge Rambles and riff raff about all this and that

8Aug/083

So it begins (and it ends)

Since I didn't make it to China, I spent the morning watching the most amazing Olympic openning ceremony ever. It had quite a bunch of breath taking moments, but you'll probably watch that yourself if you haven't already.

This marks a sort of culmination of a lot of work. Not that I can sit back and relax, quite on the contrary, the next couple of weeks will be crazy, but I can't help but get a feeling of culmination this day, 08-08-08.

Although I already know what I will be doing after the games end there is a certain sense of "what's next?" lurking somewhere in my mind.

First thing will be to regroup my ideas. I have neglected many things in this time, both personally and profesionally; so straigting the wrongs is a top priority.

Some acknowledgments are due, I'd say. David, thanks for the inspiring ideas and Challenges; Rohit and Kaitlyn I've been honored to work with you on this. Alan, as I usually say: I speak more with you than I do with my wife! It has been a blast. Tim, we'll keep on a close loop, but thanks for everything-Olympically-delivered.

Let the games begin and enjoy the show!

Esteban, this is only the beginning, but I too share some of your wistfulness that months and months of work came to a crescendo eight hours ago in Beijing.

All we can do now is sit back and let the athletes do their thing, there’s nothing more to be done after doing so much already.

While you’re not here, you are here. Believe me when I say this is a very big thing for you, me, Alan, Tim, Nicole, and all the others who helped in our list of life’s accomplishments. Welldone.

Now on to the big stuff. Kicking a certain competitor’s ass.

Who could anticipate all our drama over the last two weeks?? No one I’d rather be in the fox hole with.

One of the most exciting campaigns I’ve ever worked on – and definitely the most rewarding.

Thanks for everything you’ve contributed Esteban.

    Esteban,
I echo Kaitlyn’s thoughts. We were both pressed hard at times. When I knew there was absolutely nothing left to give, you reached deeper. Your “can do” attitude was inspiring to me. It fostered an atmosphere where striving for excellence was the only way. We pressed and played like a staff of 20 when you and I know the real #.
